Sentrol Service in Action - Avoiding a Costly Calibration Mistake
Service and preventive maintenance are often overlooked…until something goes wrong. At Sentrol, we aim to catch those issues before they turn into downtime. A recent site visit to support a new RKI LEL gas detection system is a great example.
Our customer had completed electrical and mechanical installation using outside contractors and asked Sentrol to perform the initial startup and calibration. During the site visit, our technician noticed that the CO2 sensors would calibrate but quickly drifted out of range. Wiring and sensors were rechecked – everything passed. The issue? The sensors hadn’t been allowed the full manufacturer-specified warm-up period before calibration.
After following proper warm-up procedures, the sensors held calibration, and the system performed as expected. A small oversight could have led to major frustration, false alarms, or compliance risks. Sentrol worked closely with the contractor to ensure all safeguards and procedures were properly followed, resolving the issue and reinforcing the importance of full warm-up and calibration protocols.
